Welcome to the Neighborhood
On July 18, 2009, WMSA celebrated its one-year anniversary at 951 Wealthy Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI in the heart of the East Hills neighborhood. “The move to the new office just made sense, as it allowed us to be more centrally located and support a neighborhood that has seen some amazing revitalization.” said WMSA President, Greg Northrup. WMSA would like to express their deep appreciation to the many vendors who helped make this move possible: Steelcase Inc., Studio Ink, Bazzani Associates, Inc., Holland Arts Council and Pallets Business Supplies. WMSA Hosts Internship Training for West Michigan Employers
On August 6, 2009, twenty-one West Michigan employers attended two separate training sessions to learn about setting-up or improving their organizations internship program.  The training sessions were conducted by Cindy Brown, Project Manager -West Michigan Internship Initiative with the assistance of Tom Stanfield, Mill Steel, and Frank Coronado, Grand Valley State University – Career Services.

Employers were presented with an overview of the InternInMichigan.com website, went over the Employers Internship Toolkit, and ended with an open discussion on the value of having interns and what they can bring, not only to an organization, but West Michigan as well.

To sign-up for future Employer Internship Training sessions or to learn more about the West Michigan Internship Initiative, contact Cindy Brown at 616.87.2452 or cbrown@wm-alliance.org.
