TALENT 2025
TALENT: Key to a Vibrant Economy
"What most distinguishes successful areas from Michigan is their concentrations of talent. The key to economic growth is TALENT...priority one is to prepare, retain and attract talent."
Michigan Future, 2008
In 2006, West Michigan received one of the first $15 million WIRED (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) grants from the U. S. Department of Labor. Several of the workforce initiatives funded by WIRED have demonstrated that it is possible to transform parts of the talent development system here in West Michigan—and some exciting promising practices are being funded by local philanthropy and state funds—so we know it is possible to build on these innovations. The current recession only reinforces the need for the business community to take a leadership role in achieving exemplary performance in our talent systems as a strategy for driving West Michigan's economic prosperity. We are calling this initiative TALENT 2025.
